The diffuser is the sculpted section at the rear of the floor that helps control how air exits from underneath the car. As air flows through the car’s underbody (especially with ground effect), the diffuser expands that airflow smoothly, lowering pressure and sucking the car downward for more grip. A good diffuser means better rear-end stability — and possibly a suspicious glance from the stewards. Teams have exploited diffuser design for decades, from blown diffusers to double-deckers. It’s where aero magic quietly happens.
