There is no longer a point awarded for fastest lap.
The bonus point system that rewarded the driver with the fastest lap (if they finished in the top 10) has been removed for the 2025 season.
Why was it removed?
To:
- Simplify the points system
- Stop artificial tyre pit stops late in the race
- Focus more on consistent performance, not stat-chasing
When was this rule active?
The fastest lap point existed from 2019 to 2024, with several dramatic uses — but as of 2025, it’s gone.
Does the fastest lap still matter?
Yes — for pride, stats, and headlines. But it no longer affects the championship standings.
