Tow (Slipstream)

Also known as the slipstream, the tow is the sweet aerodynamic boost a driver gets by tucking in behind another car. The lead car punches a hole in the air, and the following car gets dragged along with less resistance — like cycling behind a lorry on the motorway. In qualifying, a well-timed tow can shave off tenths. In the race, it’s the first step toward an overtake. In team dynamics, it’s a guaranteed argument during Q3.
